IAHV

«The Art of Living» Foundation closely cooperates with the International Association for Human Values, both organisations being founded by H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. As befits sister organisations, the IAOLF sometimes plays IAHV roles as defined below and vice-versa, where the IAHV or AOL is a less extensive organisation in a given region or country.

Human Development

 Techniques used in The Art of Living courses can also be adapted for use in rehabilitation programs for at-risk youth, or for the staff in highly stressful  situations like prison staff, police, military personnel.  IAHV coordinates contacts with governmental bodies in this kind of cooperation. Forums for Dialogues

The IAHV carries out peace-making activities aimed at reconciliation of conflicting parties, and resolving misunderstandings across cultural, ethnic or religious boundaries. It also organises conferences and symposia to raise the awareness of businesses and other organisations about ethical practices in their own fields and the need to take responsibility for less fortunate segments of society. Art Excel

The Art of Living program for children, aged 8 to 13. The themes of the program – focussing on cooperation, confidence, handling emotions – provide the ideal support for school, learning, sports, arts and other activities. The course is also a lot of fun! To find out more, see what the kids say.

YES!

A program for teens, from 13 to 19. Besides learning techniques to handle stress and emotions, the course develops a sense of responsibility, a pro-voluntary attitude and thus builds for the participants future careers and adult-life in general. To find out more, see what course graduates say.

A dynamic program for young professionals and students – those just embarking on, or about to set out on their careers. The skills taught – like time-management, public-speaking, memory and concentration – are vital at college and work, but also come in handy at home and leisure. Gets you fit too! DSN

DSN is both a dynamic personal development challenge, and a preparation for taking on more responsibility. Participants learn how to handle many responsibilities at once, and are encouraged to take up voluntary activities to apply their new-found multi-tasking skills! Meditation

Meditation is often perceived as a way to ‘escape’ from stressful reality. The Art of Living Sahaj Samadhi course teaches meditation as a practical and powerful technique enabling participants to handle life’s challenges with a smile. Conflict and Trauma Relief

A few of the most prominent humanitarian programs with Art of Living and IAHV cooperation: Kosovo from 2000 to the present-day; New York, 2001, extensive post-9/11 programs; Iraq, 2003, post-traumatic relief programs begin; Asia, 2004, comprehensive support for Tsunami victims; South Ossetia 2008 – conflict resolution and trauma relief.

Social Rehabilitation for Prisoners

Prison Smart

The Art of Living provides comprehensive prisoner rehabilitation programs including extensive follow-up. The organisation has gathered hundreds of referral letters from prison authorities, as well as the moving ‘referral letters’ from inmates themselves. To find out more, see the Prison Smart section.

5H

The 5 H’s referred to are: Homes, Health, Hygiene, Human Values and Harmony in Diversity. The 5H program recognises that it is often a holistic combination of material support and human values which can uplift a poverty-stricken community. Find out more about the 5H program.

Euro-a-day

The Euro-a-day program run jointly by The Art of Living and the IAHV supports the education of children who otherwise would not have access to schools. To find out more, click hereOnline donations are welcome. 

Women empowerment

The Art of Living supports the empowerment of women on many levels of society: from the education of girls in regions where access to education is restricted for them, through the financial empowerment of women in rural villages – running education programs teaching economic independence – through to the organisation of conferences in conjunction with the IAHV  joining women leaders in business, the arts and politics. Breathe Smart

A program of social rehabilitation which can be offered as an alternative to standard sentencing, or as a preventative program for at-risk youth. In Denmark, the program has been officially acknowledged as an alternative rehabilitation program to normal sentencing. Read more... 

Disaster Relief

Cooperation of The Art of Living  and the International Association for Human Values typically takes the form of The Art of Living, as a training organisation, providing trainers and training for post-traumatic relief programs coordinated by the IAHV. 

Prison Programs

Prison Programs are by no means restricted to the social rehabilitation of inmates. Prison staff and the police also work under considerable stress, so programs are organised for them in conjunction with The Art of Living.

5H Community Development

The 5 H’s  in this joint AOL and IAHV program are: Health, Hygiene, Human Values and Harmony in Diversity. 5H community development is often carried out in conjunction with Youth Empowerment where young leaders are trained before embarking on programs of community support.

Youth Empowerment

Youth Empowerment include the Youth Leadership Training Program (YLTP) and the Yes We Can. The YLTP is designed to train youth to become community leaders and agents of socio-economic change. It was launched in 1997 as a flagship project of the International Association for Human Values.

Women empowerment

The IAHV, in conjunction with The Art of Living, supports the empowerment of women on many levels of society: from the education of girls in regions where access to education is restricted for them through to the organisation of conference  joining women leaders in business, the arts and politics.

Peace Initiatives of the IAHV include the Human Values Caucus at the United Nations, the IAHV being the initiator and chair since 1998. Visit www.iahv.org

At risk youth

The IAHV has hosted five Symposia on International Business and Leadership on such topics as Corporate Responsibility and Business Ethics.

Conferences

The IAHV has organized numerous conferences on human values, at which spiritual, intellectual, political and business leaders from many countries have spoken about the inherent linkages between spirituality, peace and sustainable development. The IAHV has sponsored several Human Values conferences around the world. At these conferences, it gives ‘Human Values Award’ to those who have promoted core human principles through their dedication, commitment and work. Human Values Award recipients include Nelson Mandela, Former President, South Africa in 1998, and Max van der Stoel, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities in 2000. For details, visit iahv.

Conflict Resolution

The IAHV is committed to building bridge between estranged communities. It believes that peace cannot be achieved through force but through dialogue. IAHV initiates spaces for exchanges between diverse ideologies to work together for lasting peace. Visit www.iahv.org.
